Types Of Head wear You Most Likely Didn’t Know About Ancient Greek Warrior Art Form: Part-1

Introduction:
It is surprising that the equipment of the warrior has been turned into a form of art, not only from the view of an artist but also from a general viewpoint. In this blog we are discussing about Ancient Greek Warrior Art . From 800 BC to 30 BC that is from Archaic to Hellenistic. A journey of almost 800 years which has witnessed these significant forms of art. 

An Artistic Journey Of Greek Headgear:

Pointed or Kegel Headwear

The pointed crown helmet which came into existence during 800- 700 BC somewhere near Argos city and approximately existed up to 8th BC.

Greek Warrior Art

These helmets are also found near western Turkey to Cyprus. Such types of pointed head gear can also be seen in various parts of the world in various shapes, contributing an aesthetically significance.

Indo European Style Open Face 

The probable reasons to overcome the disadvantages of pointed shaped Kegel Helmet was responsible for the existence of Open face headgear which appeared during 7th BC and continued up to 5th BC.

Greek Warrior Art

As a renowned material of trade it was very much popular in Mediterranean part of the world. It can also be seen as a statement of the modern fashion world. Later this design has been divided into further more parts.  

Archetypal Helmet

Another classic example to get rid of the disadvantages of Pointed or Kegel head wear Corinthian or The Archetypal Helmets. It was found in mostly south European parts of the world. It came into existence during the 8th to 6th century BC.

Greek Warrior Art

It was used for almost 300 years. There is a large variation in the structural design on its nose guard, eye hole & Cheek.

Chalcidian Style Or Light Greek Helmet

An example of bronze head wear during 6th to 4th BC were more introduced in cavalry or armed forces according to their portfolio. It was one of the widely topographically distributed forms of helmet.

Greek Warrior Art

The earlier structure of the helmet was very much similar to Archetypal Helmet. These helmets were found from the West to almost Southern part of Europe.This is very lighter than the earlier mentioned helmets.
